🐾 Kind to Animals Club Charter
A shared code of ethics for every club that joins the movement
Kind to Animals Clubs are independent, adult-led spaces that empower young people to reflect, learn, and take meaningful action for animals and the planet. While every club is unique, this Charter defines the core values that unite them. By launching a club, you agree to uphold these principles in all activities.
1. Compassion for All Animals
Every sentient being has intrinsic value, regardless of species, size, popularity, or usefulness to humans. Animals are not here for our use — they are individuals who deserve respect and care.
Clubs do not support or participate in any activity that involves:
- Keeping animals in captivity (outside of rescue or rehabilitation)
- Exploiting animals for entertainment (zoos, circuses, petting farms)
- Using or promoting animal-based products or testing
2. Commitment to the Planet
Club activities aim to reduce environmental harm and promote sustainable, plant-based, and low-waste practices wherever possible.
3. Youth Empowerment
Kind to Animals Clubs are designed to uplift the ideas, voices, and actions of young people. Adult mentors provide guidance and support, but children and teens are the changemakers at the heart of every club.
4. Emotional Safety and Inclusion
Clubs must be safe, welcoming spaces for all participants. Discrimination, bullying, shaming, or exclusion — toward humans or non-human animals — is never tolerated.
Members are encouraged to:
- Foster emotional resilience and compassion
- Use respectful, inclusive, and non-speciesist language (e.g. avoid calling animals “it”)
- Acknowledge and support diverse identities and backgrounds
5. Ethics + Science = Action
Clubs base their work on accurate information, critical thinking, and ethical reflection. Projects are grounded in science, compassion, and an understanding of the root causes of harm
6. Peaceful, Community-Based Action
Clubs take action within their schools, homes, or communities through peaceful, respectful means. Whether raising awareness, advocating, or creating change, actions should align with the core values of empathy, respect, and justice.
7. Autonomy + Integrity
While all clubs share this Charter, each one is free to choose its own:
- Format and structure
- Causes or campaigns
- Frequency and size
As long as your club upholds these shared values, you are part of the movement.
Clubs are encouraged to keep a basic record of their activities and remain open to feedback and learning.
